A Surefire Way to Cure Unhappiness

February 22nd, 2009

Learn to dismiss your negative and destructive thoughts and you will be much happier. And not only will you be happier, you will also be more successful, more admired, more respected, you will attract more wealth, better health…

Wow, this sounds almost too good to be true, but how can this work? Well, let’s have quick look at how your mind helps you to create your reality.

First of all, you are not your mind - you are more than your mind. But your mind is part of you, it’s like a tool you can use to accomplish certain things. Your mind helps you to create- and to materialize the life you are envisioning. And this works equally for the “good” things as well as for the “bad” things you are envisioning. The mind doesn’t have any preference, it simply executes your orders.

So, one thing is really important: You are the master and the mind is your servant. It’s your responsibility to direct and guide your mind so it can help you to manifest a reality that’s beneficial for yourself and for others.

Again, the mind doesn’t distinguish between good or bad, it just follows your orders. If you tell your mind: “Give me abundance and fulfillment”, the mind will find ways to give it to you. If you ask for lack and unhappiness, the mind will also find ways to give it to you and it won’t tell you: “Hey, that’s not really a good choice, try something else”.

Whatever you are asking for, whatever you are focusing on, the mind will find ways to materialize it in your life: You will attract the sort of information, people, motivation… and you will take the kind of action that will make your vision (the total sum of all your thoughts and feelings) your reality.

The solution is to focus on what you want and to let go of all your negative and destructive thoughts. And you do this by becoming more and more aware of your thought patterns and by simply dismissing all those thoughts that are not “beneficial” for you.

Be careful, negative thoughts might arise from all kinds of stupid little things. However, these seemingly unimportant and harmless thoughts might define your destiny.

How can this be possible? Here are some of the examples that might happen to us every day:

* Let’s say, today is your day off and it’s raining all day long. You are annoyed and frustrated. You say, “that can only happen to me”, you imagine all day long, how wonderful this day would have been with a bit of sunshine and than you get annoyed again… Why not just taking advantage of the situation: Read the book you bought last month, spend some time with your friend at your favorite coffee place, go shopping… Choose to be happy rather than being annoyed and unhappy all day long - there are just too many reasons for you to be happy rather than being unhappy.

* Or, someone treated you with disrespect at your workplace and now you think all day long how to best retaliate. You might start wondering: “Maybe people treat me like this because I’m just stupid, maybe I don’t deserve any respect…” And your mind keeps on running: I don’t deserve respect, I’m Mr. unimportant, I’m a loser… Stop! Just stop your mind right here and right now. Remind yourself about all your great qualities, about all the nice things you did for others, about all the fantastic things you already achieved and are capable of achieving.

We could find thousands of examples like these ones, where the mind just runs out of control, when it’s not guided by its master (which is you). The point here is, if you don’t catch negative and destructive thoughts right at the beginning, they can completely mess up your life and create many undesirable results.

Everything starts with a tiny negative thought - often even about a rather unimportant event. Then you add some more negative thoughts. You make the story look bigger and more important than it is. Your mind keeps spinning, you add more negative thoughts… This maybe goes on for years and you become an expert in negative thinking and messing up your life. Whatever happens in your life, you immediately see the negative, dark and gloomy side…

And of course, your mind helps you to manifest whatever you demand and focus on. But in reality it’s you (with the help of your mind) who created the life you are living today. But the great thing is, you can change the course of your destiny at any moment. Simply start dismissing your negative thoughts and start focusing on the kind of thoughts and feelings that correspond with the life you want to live.

Don’t just tell yourself: “Everything is great, everything is wonderful…”. We all know, that doesn’t really work. Rather, learn to see the positive and life-changing potential of all your experiences - give it a try, it’s not that difficult. I know someone who had cancer and who told me that this was the best thing that ever happened to him. He told me, this completely changed his life and only after going through this painful experience he knows what it means to be happy and to feel truly alive.

Try hard enough and you will find something positive and growth-provoking in any situation.

It’s really easy, simply become aware of your thought patterns - just a little bit more with every day - and whenever you catch yourself holding on to any negative thoughts, simply dismiss them, let go of them and put your mind on something else. Make it a challenge, a game to find something positive, in anything that happens to you and use it as a catalyst for your own personal growth and for the realization of more love, happiness and abundance in your life.

Why Most People Fail To Attract What They Want

February 20th, 2009

First of all, what is the law of attraction? The law of attraction basically means that whatever you focus on (long- and intensely enough) becomes your reality.

So, if you put all your focus on becoming highly successful, then you will manifest success in your life. If all your focus is on becoming wealthy, then you will become wealthy… and so on – you get the idea.

Yes, the law of attraction is really simple and easy to understand, but it’s not so easy to apply and to make it work – not at all.

The difficult part is that all your focus has to be on whatever it is that you want – almost continuously, throughout the entire day, for weeks, months and even years.

You have to BECOME whatever it is that you want! You need to align your mindset with whatever it is that you want. Now, if you absolutely love-, if you are absolutely passionate about what you are doing than this isn’t so hard. You just do what you love most, you don’t worry that much about a specific outcome… and one day, it just happens: Suddenly you are successful, rich, happy, healthy, fulfilled, famous…

One thing is sure, in order to attract what you want, some sort of action (massive action) is required. Action leads to manifestation. However, action also needs some fuel – love, passion and motivation. And this means, if you don’t have any “fuel” for the action that needs to be taken, you won’t get very far and you won’t be able to attract what you want.

Now you have two possibilities: Either fall in love with the “kind of action” you are currently doing or simply choose the “sort of action” you already love or can fall in love with.

Here is roughly how this works:

* Decide what you want – I mean what you really want.

* Put your mind on it, focus on it, become one with it… It’s not enough, doing 2 sort visualizations a day, while spending the rest of the day sabotaging your projects with negative and destructive thoughts (careful, you might not even be aware of this).

* Add love and passion and start taking action – yes, simply get started, even if you think you are not ready.

* Add more love and passion for what you are doing & becoming – give it time, this happens naturally.

* Turn action into massive action – again, this happens naturally when you love what you do.

* That’s all you have to do, that’s all you can do – everything else happens on its own.

* If you keep all your focus on what you want (something you really want from deep within), your love and passion keeps on growing (naturally), action happens (naturally)… and your mind will find ways to make your dreams come true.

Just always remind yourself: Manifestation (through the law of attraction) happens through action and not through wishful thinking (although this might be a good starting point).

The 5 Minute Formula to Happiness and Fulfillment

February 16th, 2009

Would you like to experience more happiness and fulfillment in your life? Or just feel sooo tremendously good - and even if it’s only for a few minutes a day…? Ok, good - let’s see what we can do.

Hmm - did you ever wonder, where all the happiness you are longing for is actually hiding? Maybe it’s in L.A., in New York, somewhere in Europe, on the moon, in your soul mate or maybe it’s just showing up after you made your first million dollars…?

No, far from it! It’s actually much closer and much easier to get than you might think. Getting excited? What I’m going to show you right now is really amazingly simple - almost too simple to imagine that this could work or even completely change your life.

But please stay with me - I promise this works like a miracle. Ready? Good, let’s get started:

* Look for a quiet spot where no one will disturb you for the next 5-10 minutes.

* Make yourself comfortable and sit down on a chair. If you prefer, you can also lie down on your back.

* Close your eyes and relax.

* Now comes the most important part: Switch OFF your mind. Whatever happened yesterday, today, or what might be tomorrow has absolutely no importance for the next 5-10 minutes. Let go of everything that keeps your mind spinning. Be like a new-born, absolutely free and unburdened. Just BE - open, wide, fresh. You know, you can access this freedom anytime you want and that’s actually the biggest luxury you can give to yourself. And it won’t even cost you anything - just a few minutes of your time.

* So, once again, switch OFF your mind. Right now (at least for a few minutes) absolutely nothing matters, nothing is important - except you and the new YOU, you are going to experience.

* Silently tell yourself: Open, wide, free… and then even let go of these thoughts and just watch and observe.

* Now, something is going to happen within you. It’s a very special, yet also very subtle feeling. You are connecting with your inner happiness. It’s a glimpse of the tremendous peace, bliss and happiness within you that you are becoming aware of.

* Simply feel it, let it happen, let it unfold. Swim and dance with this feeling.

* But careful, don’t allow your mind to interfere. Don’t judge what’s happening, don’t try to hold on to it, don’t wish for more… or the doors will close.

* Just BE with this feeling, don’t do anything, don’t even get excited about how wonderful it feels - just enjoy it. Stay with this feeling, become one with it – the more often you are doing this, the bigger your inner happiness will grow.

* Allow your newly gained inner happiness to flow into your day-to-day life: Re-focus and re-connect with this feeling, with your inner happiness several times throughout the day - this takes only a few seconds.

And yes, that’s not some kind of homework you HAVE to do to get what you want. No, it doesn’t work like that. Play, enjoy, have fun, let go and let it happen - that’s the magic formula.

And that’s really all! Maybe do this 2-3 times a day (or as often as you want). Of course, you can also remain more than 5 minutes in your divine happiness if you feel like it - however, don’t make this some sort of competition. It’s not the one with the most discipline who wins the big price at the end.

So please, just give it a try - you owe it to yourself. Do it for 21 day and your life will have already changed. Do it for a year and your life will never be the same again - I promise you will be one of the happiest and most fulfilled persons on earth.

Take It Easy And Observe Before You Act

December 13th, 2008

Learn to take things easier. Nothing is as serious as it might seem at first glance. Take some distance from the diverse events that might happen throughout the day. Rather than identifying yourself with these events, step back and observe them. After consciously observing the happenings, take action. Start acting appropriately and stop reacting in your habitual way you did so far.

When I say “act appropriately”, I mean, you should act in a way that’s most beneficial for you and all others. Reacting unconsciously in your habitual way mostly isn’t beneficial - neither to yourself not to anyone else.

Getting angry, using bad language, hurting anyone, worrying, being annoyed, frustrated… doesn’t add anything positive to your life. These reactions are merely bad habits - habits you learned from others. Whatever might happen to you, always try to find something positive.

Every situation contains something positive, not necessarily what our ego wants, but surely something positive: A possibility to grow, to change ourselves for the better, a possibility to learn, a means to become stronger, more independent…

Take it easy, simply step back, observe and became aware of all the blessings that surround you. The mind mostly creates problems, where there are no problems.

Don’t Wait For Miracles To Happen

November 13th, 2008

If you are not happy with certain aspects and circumstances in your life, change them rather than waiting for miracles to happen. You are a creator and the powers lying within you allow you to create a life filled with happiness, abundance, love, peace and freedom…

Maybe it won’t be within your reach to win an Olympic gold medal, an Oscar or become the next president of the United States… But that doesn’t really matter, because all you really want is happiness, fulfillment…

Again, things in your life can’t and won’t change as long as YOU don’t change anything. Unfortunately, most people only hope and wish for a “better” life without doing (creating) anything specific.

Hoping and wishing are bad remedies, because they are clear statements of lack. When you say: “I wish I could…”, “I hope next year will…”, all you are saying is that you don’t have, that you can’t… and that’s what you keep on creating by hoping and wishing: a reality of cannot and have not.

You, like anybody else have within you the power to create, the power to create the life of your dreams. Being a creator is your inherent nature, but you have to develop this gift in order to use it effectively. It needs to be used and trained - like your muscles and brain.

Here are some simple steps to regain your creational faculty:

  • Start with rather easy goals.
  • Have a clear idea of what you want and create a mental picture of it.
  • Attach a strong emotion to your mental picture
  • Write down what you intend to achieve - a few short sentences should be enough.
  • Your mind might tell you: “No that’s not possible… no, I can’t do that…” Don’t allow your mind to interfere. Know that there is a force within you that allows you to achieve unbelievable things, things that might even be beyond any logic. This force within you might be called higher self, creative mind, god… or whatever you want. It’s something that was always there, but you’ve never been told about it and you never learned how to use it.
  • Learn to trust that this force within you will guide you towards realization of your goals. This will become easier once you start using and commanding this power and once you start feeling its guidance -amazing ideas coming into your mind, new people you meet giving you great advice… Believe me, creating is really fun and it’s tremendously exciting - much more than just sitting around and waiting for things to change.

So, now it’s time to get started using the tremendous powers within you:

  • Get crystal clear about what you want.
  • Believe and trust that you will be guided by your higher self towards realization of your goal
  • Remain open and aware. Watch the thoughts coming into your mind, advices given to you by others, book falling into your hands…
  • Take action and do your part of the work
  • Leave the rest to your higher self, creative mind, god or whatever you want to call it.

You Have To… You Must… You Should…

November 7th, 2008

Truth is, there isn’t really anything you have to do. It’s entirely up to you what you want to do with your life. You want to spend your life watching TV, playing video games…? No problem. There is no god that will condemn you or love you less because you aren’t doing something “more noble”.

In fact, the universe doesn’t really care what you are doing - god doesn’t have a preference whether you read the bible or watch TV. It’s your life, so you should do whatever makes you happy and gives you fulfillment. Will watching TV… fulfill you? I don’t know, but probably not.

If you want fulfillment and happiness and if you want to bring out the “real” you, then you have to get out of your comfort zone and you have to make an (at least initial) effort.

Will this be difficult? Not necessarily. If there is something that immediately excites and fulfills you then it will be child’s play. However, to be honest, in most cases a (maybe big) effort is required. But, what I call effort is most likely only felt at the beginning, then it becomes a habit, it becomes natural and effort turns into fun.

Don’t be too serious, don’t expect anything specific, play and have fun. Have fun making mistakes and embarrassing yourself - what’s the big deal? Only fools will laugh at you, dead fools who waste all there precious lifetime being too afraid to step out of their tiny 10 square inch comfort zone.

Be assured that whatever you decide to do with your life, god, the universe… or whatever you want to call it will love you the same. If you do whatever your parents, teachers, society… expect from you, rather than listening to the little voice within you, you might find all kinds of things, but surely not happiness and fulfillment.

So, never forget, it’s your life and the quickest and easiest way to reach your kingdom of abundance, happiness and fulfillment is by simply being yourself.  Be yourself and do whatever deep down you feel you want - there are no should’s and have’s - to do.

Love What You Have To Do

November 4th, 2008

Are there certain things in your life you absolutely dislike, but you still have to do? Then you are not alone. But what can you do?

There are several stages:

First of all, you should stop fighting and accept your current situation
Second you should get clear what you really want
And third, you should take appropriate action in order to get what you want and leave behind what you no longer want.

Today I want to focus on the first point: Accepting your current situation. And yes, you understood me right when I said stop fighting. Most people tell you, to fight to get out of your “hell”, but that’s often the surest way to get even deeper into it.

So, stop fighting, stop struggling, take a few steps back and calm down. Your current situation is your own creation, it’s the result of your past actions (and thoughts and emotions). But this also means, whatever you do today will create your tomorrow.

Life is fluid and it can change completely within only a few days or weeks. When you fight against what is, then in most cases you make this “what is” even bigger. Instead of allowing yourself to let go of what you don’t want any longer, you make it even bigger.

So, the first step must be to completely accept whatever your current situation is. Look at your circumstances from some distance, and you will realize that you are probably still better off than millions of others who are terminally ill, starving, who have lost everything…

Calm down, make peace and stop hating your situation. People often tell me, they hate their work, although they aren’t really that bad off. Learn to love whatever you have to do, turn it into a meditation.

For example, you have to clean floors and hate it. Do an experiment, from now on do your work with love, while performing your work, go within, feel the peace, turn your work into an art… and you will start enjoying whatever you have to do.

However, be careful with what your mind will be telling you. It can quickly destroy your newly found bliss and harmony. Your mind might tell you all kinds of stupid things, like: “As long as I have to do this work, people won’t respect me… no one wants to do this kind of work, but I have no choice… it’s the least rewarding job… only uneducated, stupid people do this kind of work…

Don’t listen to your mind, listen to your heart. You can find bliss and fulfillment in any activity and that’s far more important than only having a so-called “highly respected” job.

So, whatever you have to do, learn to love doing it - it’s highly rewarding and absolutely possible if you stop listening to your mind-chatter and stop worrying what others might think of you.

Get at peace with whatever you have to do right now, love it and enjoy it - this might sound ridiculous, but it’s very possible and surely the best way to replace anger, frustration and hate with happiness.

Once you reach that stage, it will also be very easy for you to move on to something different and to leave behind what you previously disliked so much.

Are You Happy With Your Life?

October 13th, 2008

Most people are not - although they pretend to be. When others ask them how they are, they might say something like: “Great, thanks, I’m fine… However the truth is different.A major step towards a happier life is increasing awareness. Deep down, deep within you are happy, fulfilled and abundant, however you no longer feel it, because you became so identified with all your little, unimportant, mind-created problems that you lost your true nature.

Be calm, let go, let go of everything for a moment, dive within, become completely detached from your mind for a short while… Now you feel it: A glimpse of happiness, a deep peace, a strength you never experienced before. That’s who and what you really are: Happiness, love, peace, freedom. Everything else you might believe you are is only an illusion, a mind created illusion that you have mistaken for real.

Take a few moments every now and then to become aware of your true nature. Close your eyes, shut down your mind, dive within and simply observe - BE. Nothing else needs to be done. Simply being without thinking is enough. Everything else - happiness, peace, love - happens on its own.

So, that’s really simple, but it’s not easy. It will need some (or even quite a lot of) practice to move from mind-chatter to awareness and silence. Keep going within, even if it’s not always easy, or if you think nothing is happening. By the way, whenever you go within, something very positive is always happening. It’s only your mind telling you: “What’s the point? This doesn’t lead me anywhere. I don’t feel anything special…”

All you’ve ever been looking for in life is already within you and that’s the only place where it can be found. It’s impossible to fulfill your deepest yearnings on the outside. However, if you become aware of your true nature within, very nice and pleasant things will also manifest on the outside. Because the outside is nothing but a mirror of your inner convictions and identification.

Your nature is happiness and once you become aware of it and identified with it all kind of things that represent happiness will also manifest in your outer life. However, if you are not aware of your “happiness-nature”, accumulating material riches, prizes, titles, honours… won’t make you happy.

And after you’ve done all the hard work you’ll still be the some old unhappy donkey you’ve been before. You might now have a bigger house, a bigger car… but you’ll still be happy .And then you will realize, that you never really wanted all those riches, all you were looking for was happiness and fulfillment.

Become Aware Of Your Happy Nature

September 13th, 2008

Most people are not happy (although they pretend to be), because they are way too identified with the illusory outer world and with their many mind-created (and greatly exaggerated) problems. You want to be happier? Start by becoming aware of the unspeakable treasures lying within you. I can tell you that your true nature and birthright is happiness, abundance and fulfillment, but as long as you don’t experience this by yourself it won’t be of much help.

You are already happy, fulfilled, abundant… but unfortunately you completely lost sight of the treasures within yourself while you became more and more identified with your mind. The mind loves to create problems and whenever one is solved, three new ones are created.

So, what can you do to “get out of your mind” and to become more aware of your inner happiness?

Calm down, relax and let go. Let go of everything for a moment, dive within, become completely detached from your mind (at least for a short while)… Now you feel it: A glimpse of happiness, a deep peace, a strength you never experienced before.

That’s who and what you really are: Happiness, love, peace, freedom. Anything else you might believe that you are is only an illusion, a mind created illusion that you have mistaken for real and that started also to reflect in your outer experiences and circumstances. Take a few moments every now and then to go within and to become aware of your true nature. Close your eyes, calm your mind and dive within. Simply observe and BE. Don’t expect anything in particular and don’t judge whatever might or might not happen.

You can experience your true nature - happiness, peace, love, fulfillment - only in deep silence, when the mind is absolutely calm.

Yes, it’s really simple, but it’s not easy. It will need some (or even quite a lot of) practice to move from mind-chatter to awareness and silence. Keep going within, even if it’s difficult sometimes and you get the impression that nothing special is happening.

It’s always very beneficial to move into deep silence, only your mind might tell you: “What’s the point? This doesn’t lead me anywhere. I don’t feel anything special…” Don’t listen to it.

All you’ve ever been looking for in life is already within you and that’s also the only place where you can find it. It’s impossible to fulfill your deepest yearnings on the outside. However, once you realize your true nature within, it will also materialize on the outside and whatever you might be dreaming of right now will come to you on it’s own. The outside is nothing but a mirror of what is within.

One of the aspects of your nature is happiness and once you become aware of it and identified with it all kind of things that represent happiness will also manifest in your outer life and circumstances.

On the other hand, if you are not aware of your “happiness-nature”, accumulating material riches, prizes, titles, honors… won’t make you happy. Even after you’ve done all the hard work and accomplished whatever you desired, you’ll still be the some old, unhappy donkey you’ve always been. You might now have a bigger house, a bigger car… but you’ll still be unhappy.

What a dilemma! So, the solution is to go within, into deep silence. Watch and observe without thinking, without judging and doing - simply be. Within, in deep silence you will find whatever you’ve been longing for and even much more. Enough now, shut up your mind and enjoy the silence within….

Slow Down

August 13th, 2008

Take some time to live and breath. Lean back and relax, watch what’s going on and take some time out. Life isn’t about achieving hundreds of things - it isn’t even about achieving anything, it’s about living and enjoying the feeling of being alive.

Many people have the “bad” habit to chase one achievement after the other. The sad truth is, that most of them don’t really achieve anything worthwhile. All they get is a life filled with worry, stress, anger. You might become a billionaire, a celebrity, a world champion… but if you don’t achieve happiness for yourself and for others, you don’t really achieve anything.

If at the end of your life you can honestly say that most of the time you felt happy, you are a winner in this game called life - no matter what others might think of you. If you can’t say that, you are a looser in this game, no matter how much others respect you, no matter how much money you made, no matter how famous you might have been¦ It’s really that simply, the only thing that really counts in this life is how much time you spend in bliss and happiness.

When you are happy, it’s also easy to make others happy and to inspire them. When you are miserable, it’s equally easy to make others miserable.

Whatever you want to achieve, be aware that it’s the path towards your achievement that counts most and not the end result. The path is long, the end result is only a short moment of excitement. So, enjoy the path, otherwise you will never be able to enjoy your life - and that’s really all that counts, nothing is more important. If there is no joy and fun in your life, then you aren’t really living.

Slow down and stop chasing false dreams. Stop missing all the magnificent things in your life. In order to to hear that little voice within you that guides you towards abundance, happiness and fulfillment, you have to stop rushing and racing. Be still and listen, watch and take your time. Enjoy the happiness that bubbles up from within when you let go and become silent.

You might think that you have to do A, B and C… before you can take some time off for yourself and start enjoying your life. Unfortunately, for most people this time never comes. When you are finished with A, B and C - D, E and F will already be on your mind and this crazy circle continues until the end of your life. What is so important that it absolutely has to be done right now, all day long, all your life…?

Will it give you happiness? Are you sure? If not, take it a bit less serious and spend some time with your self: simply observe, watch, listen, do nothing, let go, allow things to work out themselves…

What does really count? Again, The amount of time you dwell in happiness. Happiness can’t be found in chasing, achieving, racing and rushing.

You think you will be happy, once you get that house? Think again! You think you will be happy, once you get that promotion? Think again! You think you will be happy, once you acquire that title? Think again!… There will be some excitement and maybe even some happiness, but it won’t last much longer than a few short moments, before you start chasing the next illusion.

Happiness is simple - it’s your natural state - and it is found in simple things - watching, being, letting go, letting happen, doing nothing, silence…

Don’t misunderstand me, there is nothing wrong with achieving and chasing your (sometimes false) dreams. However, make sure to take some time off (from your chase) every now and then to recharge your batteries, to regain your center and to change directions if necessary.
